Project Description:
This project, conducted at Fablab Nepal, aimed to engrave the image of Mahakal using CNC machining. The primary objective was to gain hands-on knowledge about CNC machining while understanding the basic background theory. Additionally, the project aimed to learn the product design and development process through practical application.
Project Type:
Professional Training Project @Fablab Nepal.
Objectives:
Understand basic background theory of CNC machining
Gain hands-on knowledge about CNC machining
Learn the product design and development process
Engrave the image of Mahakal using CNC machining
Methodology/Approach Used:
Employed a systematic approach, starting with brainstorming sessions to generate ideas for the engraving design. Utilized Solidworks for CAD design to create the Mahakal image. CNC machining setup and toolpath generation were performed to execute the engraving process. The project focused on practical learning through hands-on experience with CNC machining technology.

Product Design Process:
Many Iterations of Grayscale images and Other Images were done before complying to this image.
Step 1:Image was downloaded from (Mahadev PC Wallpapers - Wallpaper Cave) in .jpg format.
Step 2:The image was processed for bitmap tracing in Aspire 10.515 software. Thus obtained vector is then processed with tools for creating smooth vectors without any open ends.
Step 3:Toolpath for the vector was generated using V-carve engraving tool where tool speed, feed rate, number of passes, cutting depth was selected for two vectors. The toolpath was simulated with a profile cutting for a new vectors adjusting similar settings.
Step 4:The fabrication part is done using shopbot using cnc machine. The generated files are then placed in the shopbot machine to observe the design turning into a reality using tools wearing safety equipments.
Outcomes and Results:
Hands-on knowledge gained in CNC machining process
2. Engraved image of Mahakal demonstrating understanding of CNC machining principles
3.Learning experience in product design and development
Lessons Learned:
Collaborative problem-solving and knowledge sharing within the team
Enhanced understanding of CNC machining principles and processes
Proficiency gained in CAD design and toolpath generation
Importance of attention to detail and quality control in fabrication projects
