Project Overview:
The project aims to design and produce a miniature temple using SLA (Stereolithography) printing technology. The temple serves as a prototype showcasing the integration of traditional architectural design with modern additive manufacturing techniques.
Project Type:Â
Professional Training Project @Fablab Nepal.
Objectives:
Develop an accurate 3D model of an ancient temple.
Print the temple model using the stereolithography (SLA) technique.
Showcase the beauty and intricacy of temple architecture through modern techniques.
Methodology/Approach Used:
The process began with brainstorming and idea generation for the temple design, where various concepts and visions were explored. This phase served as the foundation for subsequent steps in the project. Following idea generation, the temple model was designed using SolidWorks, a CAD software. SolidWorks enabled the creation of detailed and precise digital designs of the temple's architecture, ensuring accuracy in representation.
After CAD design, the next step involved preparing a 3D model suitable for Stereolithography (SLA) printing. The digital CAD model was optimized for printability and fidelity to the original design, preparing it for the printing process. Subsequently, the temple model was printed using the SLA technique, an additive manufacturing process. SLA printing solidified liquid resin layer by layer with a high-precision laser, gradually forming a physical 3D object with exceptional detail and accuracy.
Following printing, the independently printed temple model underwent thorough quality checks to ensure adherence to desired standards. Any defects or imperfections were identified and addressed independently to meet quality standards. Finally, finishing touches were applied to enhance the appearance and functionality of the temple model. This involved post-processing techniques such as sanding, polishing, or painting to refine the surface finish and add detail.
